Overview of Hospital: Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center, founded in 1839, is a 340-bed facility in the South Bronx supporting patients with chronic health issues such as asthma, obesity and diabetes, as well as cancer and tuberculosis. Lincoln is a member of the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation (HHC), the largest municipal hospital and health care system in the country. Lincoln has the busiest single site emergency room in the region.
With residents of the South Bronx having the highest rate of asthma in New York City, Lincoln offers both adult and pediatric asthma patients immediate attention when arriving at the emergency room. They also run the Comprehensive Care for Patients with Asthma Clinic for the treatment, education and management of asthma.
